“Innovative Ways to Build Mutually Meaningful Relationships Between Corporations and Minority Businesses”
Featuring: Cheryle Jackson, President, Chicago Urban League
Metropolitan Club, Sears Tower, 66th Floor
Registration opens at 7:45 am, Session begins promptly at 8:15 am
OVERVIEW
As President of the Chicago Urban League, Cheryle Jackson is transforming the 90‐year‐old organization into a powerful proponent of African American entrepreneurship. Through the creation of a new Entrepreneurship Center, a partnership with the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, the Chicago Urban League is developing a resource for accelerating the growth of an underserved segment of African American businesses.
While African Americans have surpassed Caucasians and other minority groups in the number of new businesses created, Black businesses still lag these groups in revenue growth and profitability. Why is this the case when so many resources have been dedicated to the improvement of African American businesses over the past decade and longer? Ms. Jackson will discuss the current state of African American businesses as well as the Chicago Urban League’s strategy to change this trend for Chicago area Black businesses.
Cost $35
